Question by ♫♥ Erin ♥♫ Due 7/17/10: “This copy of Windows is not Genuine”. Help, please?
I am looking for help on how to prove to Microsoft that my copy of Windows Vista is genuine. I purchased this computer a little over 2 years ago (February, 2007), it’s an eMachines computer. It had Windows Vista installed on it already when I bought it from Circuit City, so I know the copy is genuine. I am also getting a pop-up that says “You may be a victim of counterfeit software”. I highly doubt a company such as Circuit City would sell me a computer with pirated software on it. I went on the Microsoft website (they want money to activate my copy, or they want me to buy a whole new disc and re-install Windows), and then I spoke with technical support from eMachines, and THEY referred me to a phone number that was going to charge me money to get help from them. This is ridiculous. What can I do here, without having to pay anything?
And I swear to God, if I can’t get this fixed without paying money, I’m calling Microsoft and giving one of their China-based Customer Service Reps a new *sshole, and I’m going to Linux.
I am sorry, I just asked this question a little bit ago, but I only got one answer that didn’t help.

I know Google has those Help groups, consisting of people from the public, and that help section, with the help topics at google.com/support. But non of it is actual real person google help. I couldnt find any email address to email them for help iether? And there phone number is just a computer!!! Is there a way to actually talk with google, via email or phone?? Cuz my problem can only be fixed by someone at Google.

It has to do with a program they feature, Google groups. And i need to talk to google for it.

ok so i have A BIG PROBLEM. I contacted tmobile and they said they would ship me a new phone because my track ball was not working. However i tampered with the phone a litle bit and i got it to work again. But i still want the new phone. But as i was temparing with it i cracked one of the keys in half but its still on the phone. Will t-mobile charge me?…. Also does T-moile check phones sent back to them? PLEZ PLEZ PLEZ HELP

Answer by Nathan M First of all, it’s “Please” not “PLEZ”. Secondly, no T-Mobile will not charge you. They check for water damage or intentional opening or changing of the phone. If you just cracked it, it’s no different than dropping it. You’ll be fine, just send the phone back and you’ll never hear about it again. They just give it a quick glance then toss it.

I’ve been an HP customer for the last ten years and while their machines are really good, the support is sub-par.
I have owned a couple of Dell’s The machines aren’t bad but the support is excellent. I have heard very good things about Lenovo also.
Anyways, just my opinion. What are your thoughts and experiences on these brands because I am going to buy a new laptop in the next couple of weeks and my budget is $ 1,000.

Answer by Frank A I’ve seen that brand in several stores, but don’t know anyone with one (I have a Toshiba, most people I know have HPs, Dell or Macs). Look on their website (and computer review websites) and read more about the company to see if they make good products. Read reviews of the specific laptop you want and also try comparing this to other brands because you might find that they are better and probably cost only a little more. Good luck!!!

I just got a new Lenovo 3000 v100 laptop, it comes with Vista and should have a DVD burner, but when I go to “Computer”, I only see the C-drive but not the DVD/CD drive
And I turned on Autoplay, but when I place a DVD or even Vista software (like Word 2007), the laptop does not recognize the disc, autoplay does not work, and it does not come up under “Computer”
What should I do? Is there a way to turn on the DVD drive through the BIOS menu? I’ve already tried changing the DVD drive and Lenovo customer support sucks. I’m going off to school tomorrow and need to fix this problem!!!
