Question by Christine: When calling for customer support, which country’s accent is the most understandable? Least understandable?
I’m just wondering, since I see a lot of complaints by people calling for tech/customer support and getting their calls answered overseas (outsourcing is big business). There are call centers in India, Philippines, Argentina, and maybe some other countries. It’s impossible to totally eliminate accents since everyone has one (yes, even native English speakers), but are there accents which are harder to understand? Or easier to understand? Or it totally depends on the support personnel. Please do tell.

Answer by Lachy S A lot of international customer support centers are bullsh*t.. you have to wait and wait and wait and then finally you get through and then you cant understand what they are saying because of their sh*tty understanding of the english language.
I find that if you need to call customer support youre better off ringing head office in your local town/state or even researching your problem(s) online and figuring it out for yourself.
Question by Rehabilia.se: Where to market our customer support office?
Can someone recommend a good way to market our small call center for outsourcing? The staff is trained for American and Brittish customer support. Please let me know where you would recommend or if you need a small customer support center.
Edit: we are based in Sweden and we offer customer support. We have experience in customer support for web merchants mainly and even gaming merchants. We wish to add expand. As of right now we have 2 seats and are looking to expand to 10 seats. We have a website which tells what services we offer (www.rehabilia.se) however it has been difficult to find the right market for such a small operation.

Question by SockPuppet: Poll: Outsourced customer support?
Should U.S. businesses stop outsourcing customer support jobs? I’m sure there are plenty of Americans willing to work the night shift and with it’s diverse culture capable of supporting many languages.
It would really be funny if we started hanging up when the call has obviously gone outside CONUS (continental United States).
