Question by ♫♥ Erin ♥♫ Due 7/17/10: “This copy of Windows is not Genuine”. Help, please?
I am looking for help on how to prove to Microsoft that my copy of Windows Vista is genuine. I purchased this computer a little over 2 years ago (February, 2007), it’s an eMachines computer. It had Windows Vista installed on it already when I bought it from Circuit City, so I know the copy is genuine. I am also getting a pop-up that says “You may be a victim of counterfeit software”. I highly doubt a company such as Circuit City would sell me a computer with pirated software on it. I went on the Microsoft website (they want money to activate my copy, or they want me to buy a whole new disc and re-install Windows), and then I spoke with technical support from eMachines, and THEY referred me to a phone number that was going to charge me money to get help from them. This is ridiculous. What can I do here, without having to pay anything?
And I swear to God, if I can’t get this fixed without paying money, I’m calling Microsoft and giving one of their China-based Customer Service Reps a new *sshole, and I’m going to Linux.
I am sorry, I just asked this question a little bit ago, but I only got one answer that didn’t help.
Question by black dog: i have product key but lost CD for OS. How to re-install OS?
I have windows 7 home premium and my hard drive totally crashed and went bad. I now have new hard drive which is blank and I want to re-install the OS. I lost the CD but I have the product key. I purchased win 7 OS from digital river back in 2009. Unfortuntely digital river is now dead. They have no technical support whatsoever. They never reply back to any of my emails and in fact they don’t even list any type of phone number on their site. Microsoft is the same. The live human never comes on phone and its an automated voice which says, “answer yes or no”. When you answer yes, the voice, “I am sorry I cannot hear”. When I yelled YES very loud again “I am having difficulty understanding you”. Then when I said representative it said, “goodbye please call again”. This SOB microsoft has no technical support at all. All I want is a live person on phone without these automated bots giving me hard time.
when I tried to email microsoft my problem, they said it will be 50 dollars for support. I sure won’t pay 50 dollars. I deserve free technical support since I purchased the OS back in 2009
For the past 10 days I cannot install OS on blank hard drive. I am using friend’s computer. I need to do work. My school work is being delayed and I have lots of business to complete on computer. This is so frustrating I feel like getting a lawyer to sue digital river and microsoft combined.

Question by : Microsoft Windows Error Phone Scam?
WARNING: Have you had a call like this?
I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Windows Technical support regarding a large number of error reports generated from my PC. He was polite, very plausible and sounded as if he was from an Indian call centre. I was curious as my PC does generate several error reports daily and have often wondered what Microsoft does with this information but was also suspicious and followed the caller’s instructions to
1. Log on to my PC.
2. Open ‘computer management’ and filter the ‘application’ and ‘system’ error report logs. He told me that the large number of error reports indicated that my computer was seriously infected by viruses and directed me to:
3. Log on to www.ammyy.com and click on a link. This would have provided him remote access to my PC.
I chose not to do this and instead asked more questions about him and his company. He became uncomfortable and gave me his name as Shaun Samson, phone number as 08055 280642 and 2globe as his company. I then pointed out that this was not the information he had provided earlier and was certainly not from Microsoft Windows support. At this stage he politely thanked me and hung up! I have since found out that other people have been taken in by this scam, provided credit card details for new virus removal tools and had their bank accounts wiped out.
Answer by G This si a new scam going around. I have several different post about it.

Recently, I got a call from a friend of mine while I was on my way home. She told me, she was on the phone with someone claiming to be from Microsoft and calling from the UK. The person was saying that her PC was getting hacked and she needs to get log on right now and let her fix it. My friend, not being a technical person, was suspicious but didn’t know how to react, so I told her to get the name and phone number and let her know that she will call her back. And this is what we did… Also, I’d like to post the following, completely random set of numbers for your entertainment. 00 44 18 65 60 06 41 Video Rating: 4 / 5

They’ve phone me so many times. One time before I was winding them up, leading them along for ages until i told them a few strong words. But they are so stupid not to cross my telephone number off their list, and they keep calling back. So I though’t i’d video it this time. Video Rating: 4 / 5
