I don’t know if it’d be worth studying it in college. Some college only offer that program as one-year certificate, not associates’ degree.

Answer by Citizen DeCat I don’t think it’s particularly well paid, especially as many such jobs are outsourced to overseas call centres where wages are low.
Also, a lot of people are becoming more computer literate and can fix their own problems.

Question by : What are the requirements for Computer (Technical) Phone Support jobs IN INDIA?
I am convinced that there is not a lot of computer experience necessary for these jobs. Nor is there a requirement for a command of the English language. What ARE the requirements for those people who I talk to when I need to reach Technical Phone Support in India?

Answer by depeople My company, much to my dismay, outsources to India. We send people over to train them on the calls, they need not have any skills, but must speak some English (there are people to help with that) The service is awful, we have tons of complaints (from myself as well) It is just like hiring a regular Joe off the street, they are company trained to to the assigned task, but do not have any background and to further the problem of having no idea what you are talking about, they also do not understand our geography, not our common language, they just take your report, go through outlined steps and be done with it.

I am thinking of applying for a course in computer technical support at college. I just want to make sure I am making the right choice. If anyone is doing or has already done this course or knows anything about it, I would appreciate any help. Just things like what the course involves, what kind of work or projects you do etc. Any help would do.

Answer by PE2008 DeVry actually has a very good eighteen month program in Computer Electronics.
You can do the same much cheaper in Community College, but it would take two years.

Are there any numbers for computer technical support for free???? I have windows vista and live in seattle washington. My internet is connected to the internet, but usually it says its not connected when I ran a test and it is, so I have to restart my computer everytime until it lets me use the internet.

Answer by Zarn I’m quite sure there isn’t. Your ISP may have a (limited) support line, but other than that, general tech support for free? No. There is, after all, no business model that supports something like that.
