Question by .: Do you need to have a bachelors degree in order to become a Computer Support Specialist?
I want to go back to school to become a Computer Support Specialist, but I don’t want to spend anymore than 2 years in school. I am in my 30′s now and don’t want to spend a lot of time in school.

No, I don’t think you need it, but it would help you find a job. Once you’ve found a job, your education becomes less important. If I was reviewing your resume, what would I see? Someone who wants to be a computer support specialist, but has no education in it – do you have any previous work experience in it? If not – what’s on your resume that would want to make me interview you?

Category: Computer Support – Tags: , , , , – 10:36 am

Question by Jessica: What kind of jobs can I get with a computer support certificate?
I want to go to school for computers. There is a certificate I can get in computer support. I can grt that in 20 credits in a community college. I was just wondering what kind of jobs is available with just a certificate and where can I look for a job in that field? I am horrible at job searching. Once I get the certificate il go for the degree which is 62 credits. I figured a certificate is better than nothing

There are many ways to go with a support certificate. The biggest is help desk support where you answer calls from computer users and help them find solutions to their problems. That’s most likely what a certificate will get you. You would need technical experience to support applications or a wide range of different technologies. If you are planning on getting a degree then a help desk support job wouldn’t be so bad. You’ll be getting experience while you’re building up your credentials for bigger and better things.

Question by John Doe: Are there a lot of computer support specialist jobs available in the market?
My mother keeps telling me that it won’t be successful career. I don’t want to believe her because she’s always pessimistic besides she rarely does her research since she doesn’t really use computer at all. How can she know if she doesn’t do her research??

I’ve seen a lot of job positions for computer support specialist on the internet but one of my friends said its too hard to find a job for that.

I don’t know if its true anymore. Please tell me if it’d make a fair career!

Support specialist is just what it is, you have to be the best of the bunch of people applying, but support is a wide subject, it could cover 50% of the product, but the other 50% could be a mixture of other software/hardware running alongside it, so its not as simple as it sound.
