Question by : Why is my ATT Internet Speed Really Slow?
So i pay $ 35 and i believe that i am supposed to receive 1.5mbps internet speed, when i try speedtest.net it shows my speed around .7 – .9 mbps. i Have ATT internet. When i called customer support it was an Indian guy talking to me ( i believe he was in India) and he took me to the ATT website and their speed meter showed my speed at 3MBPS (This is not true because i could literally feel my internet speed was not that fast) and right after i tried speedtest.net again it showed .7mbps.
About a month ago my speed was fine, i was getting the promised 1.5 mbps and youtube videos and movies from other websites were loading just fine, but in the last two weeks my internet has been really bad! Last week it got down to .4mbps and ping at 200ms+
I have not changed or moved around anything at my house, i have resetted my router countless times.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem because ATT customer support is absolutely horrible and i bet if i had them send over a guy they would charge like $ 100 even though its their fault.
babak, i had comcast before i moved and it was MARVELOUS! no problems what so ever for 3 years, then i moved i got ATT for one year and it sucked! (Comcast wasnt available in the area), then i moved again and got a local cable internet company, i was paying $ 55 ($ 85 with phone bundle) for 7mbps, and most of the time it went over 7mbps even up to 10 mbps+ on average it was great too but a little too expensive, then moved again and went back to ATT and it is HORRIBLE

Answer by msmag I have the same problem. And yes it’s 79.00 to have someone come out. Here is what I did and it gave me the speed I paid for I disconnected one of my firewall. Your computer has one and your virus scanner has one. Only time I use two is on Line banking,

Just recently the DSL in my house has become very slow, I play Xbox Live alot and I keep getting connection issues plus my dad is getting problems with his connections as well. I’ve heard ATT customer support is crap, anyway to get our speeds back up to par? We use a Netgear router thats has 5Lan connections that branches off to a Lynksys router and to another Dynex router to my room.

Answer by Dan Karas First thing I would do is eliminate the Internet (WAN) connection as a possible problem.
Cycle power on the modem and router.
Unplug power cables on the router and modem.
First plug in the modem and wait a minute or two for to establish a Internet connection.
Now plug in the router.
Reboot your PC and go to http://speedtest.net to test your speed.
If the speed is close to the speed of the At&t DSL package that you are paying for, then the Internet connection is good.
If the speed is considerably slower than what you are paying for then call At&t and complain.

Question by curious: I am still getting an error message “internet explorer cannot open http://att.yahoo.com”?
I contacted att customer support and even after following all their instructions i am still getting this error message on and off…is this still happening to anyone else or is there something else i can do to correct it?

This is an actual call I placed to AT&T on February 3rd, 2010 to order DSL service. It is both shocking and hilarious to hear what this representative has to say, and HOW he says it. It was not my initial intention to record this call, however after hearing things that were in complete contradiction to what I had been told prior to this call, I wanted to document it. So you enter into the call about 3-5 minutes into it (sorry). Legal Note: In Missouri, one of the two parties must know if the phone conversation is being recorded. The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) may require one to be notified if the conversation may be recorded. The AT&T recording clearly states the conversation may be recorded for quality and training purposes. Therefore it was not needed for me to also disclose it. I encourage you to learn these laws and consult with an attorney as I did prior to attempting any corporate phone recordings. Video Rating: 4 / 5

Too many companies are sending jobs over seas. When i call for customer support for att i get indonesia or india. All they do is read from a script and most of the things they say are things i tried before i called. There are people all over Aerica that would love a job where you read a script and then tell someone i will send a technician. There are people all over america that would love any job.
Did we price ourselves out of the market or did our mismanaged economy and uneven trade agreements price us out of the market? are we really priced out of the market or are those in charge of the bottom line greedy? Pretty soon the only jobs in the US will be fast food/ low pay service industry, government, and underground economy. Where will we be then

Does someone know any ATT Wireless Customer Support Email adresses?? I am a GoPhone customer and Prepaid customers are not able to log in on the ATT Homepage to see “contact us” email adresses…. I am not able to call the ATT Hotline right now and I need some email adress to contact the customer support
