you email yahoo customer service and they get back to you the same with AOL and many others. I would love to do something like that Im not really good with people I have social anxiety extremely bad. Im working on that Isolating one self isnt the answer either

But I’ve always been curious how one obtains a job doing online support or answering general questions

I have banking with Bank of America for a long time and one time, I had a problem and the customer services were very unhelpful, rude and prejudice. The score for the customer services is -5 (minus 5) from scale of 1 to 10.
What I mean is that they are very rude people including the manager. They don’t value nor care about their customers. Why? Because they are the biggest bank in America. That’s why, they are not afraid of losing customers regardless of the worst customer services ever. I never heard of bank of America got any award for customer services. What I don’t understand is the people who work for bank of America. If they don’t like customers, why they want to have a job that deal with customers. That doesn’t make sense at all. Why Bank of America hire such people to work for them? That will destroy their reputation and eventually their business. That’s just plain stupid. I know that Wachovia got Customer Service Awards for more than 5 years in a row.

As much success as I’ve had dealing with offshore call centers, I’d guess there’s a chance that companies who care about customer service might bring much of that work back from overseas. But I don’t think I’d go into it now, expecting to have a reliable job for my career

Are there any numbers for computer technical support for free???? I have windows vista and live in seattle washington. My internet is connected to the internet, but usually it says its not connected when I ran a test and it is, so I have to restart my computer everytime until it lets me use the internet.

I’m quite sure there isn’t. Your ISP may have a (limited) support line, but other than that, general tech support for free? No. There is, after all, no business model that supports something like that.

OMG..really?!

Well, I’ve been the one on the other end of the on-line technical support chat, as well as the one trying to trouble shoot why the web-cam application isn’t installed on the new laptop..I’m the one who’s in the middle of a factory reset/system restore.. so I consider this an HONOR to be able to participate in your personal research study.

Very important to repeat descriptive words a customer uses to describe the issue. Such as:
“..my laptop keeps freezing up..like..like..totally frozen”.

‘..Hi, I really am sorry your laptop keeps freezing up like that..but I’m positive we can unfreeze it. I know you must be very frustrated right now but try to not worry. I’m on the line/phone, and together, we can get your laptop working’.

If you refer to ‘we’ vs I as far as resolving the issue, the customer will feel they have a friend and an ally vs a non-caring, inpersonal call centre worker.

If you are waiting for data or details..always type in something to let them know you’re still there and what is taking so long. Even a quick:

‘..I’m still with you..I didn’t want you to get worried that we were disconnected..I’m waiting for an update that may help us to resolve this..and I’ll keep checking back with you’.

You should also reassure the customer from the first moment that should yoou get disconnected, you PROMiSE To phone them back. Tell them they don’t have to worry about having to explain the issue all over again to a new tech.

Saying their name is nice..reassuring them, when one issue is completed will make them happy. Like:
‘..ok..great! Just as a quick overview.. we have resolved the back light on your screen, we have updated your Adobe Flash, we are about to reinstall your web-cam app..and we are almost done..great!..’

Telling customers they appear to understand computers or whatever it is is a nice touch. So is asking if they like their computer, in general. Questions like:

‘..other than the total crash and this 3 hour system restore..do you like this Toshiba Satellite’..? Is nice.

Giving them the chance to vent and then reassuring them you won’t leave for the day until it’s resolved would be good (but you may not be allowed to go that far).

I always like it when the rep calls me back when their allotted time is up, too.

Believe it or now, we like to hear about the cust service centre. So feel free to fill a wait time with stuff like that. Like, if it’s 4am there, or it’s raining in whatever region you are in. I DETEST Speaking to Panama but I like India and the Philippines, mostly.

Make sure to add ‘..that’s what we’re here for’s and ‘..PERSONAL Remarks such as:
‘..I know what it’s like when your whole life is on a computer and then it just freezes up..it’s terrible when you feel stuck like that..but don’t worry because between the two of us..we will have you back on-line before you know it’..!

< If someone shows me 100 examples of something, proving their point, I always assume there are 100 examples in their files DISproving their point, but they simply didn't show me that.
If i'm not there witnessing all of their tests, i believe none of their results.
Is this rational?

A/ by Tiffany/ I think that the test depends on the scientist and the reason for them performing the test. If a drug company hires a group of scientists to do studies for their drug, they could purposely make the study (variables, controls, etc) poor in order to get the results they were hired for.

This isn't going to always be the case. A real experiment is meant to be done in an objective way. Heck, even in scientific writing you can't say "I or We" unless it's in a certain portion of it. If an unbiased experiment is performed and gives solid results, repeatedly, then--or at least in some cases--other scientists will come along years later and falsify that experiment. Not always on purpose, but they may run the experiment and find a different result or theory for the results that falsifies the orignial research. In which case, this is good to have. It is good to have experiments that test and get results; then have them tested again at a later date to see if they are falsifiable. Sadly, to the dismay of the scientist.

Just my opinion, based on science courses at the university and such.

Though , they may be somewhat bias and flawed, there is still enough valuable information as well as key points, to make your own rendition and judgment of the propblem or situation, and perhaps bring in your OWN bias opinion and all while making fit well and making most sense to you, yourself the individual.

I had a team leader with the unfortunate acronym "Kenny Poo". I soon found out why. We were testing a system "A". Kenny Poo's proposal was to test system A, and a system "B", together. If a test failed, the test was repeated till it "passed". The failure was explained away as caused by the unreliability of system B.

To me system A seemed to be, and probably was, junk, but was sold to a hapless customer as "passing" the testing.>>

Any or all of the above could be reasonable answers, I don’t think theres any need to clarify that their were faults all through the whole ordeal, it whether you can prove it is what is the major obstacle :)
